Hi, I’m Tash. I live in London with my husband, two daughters, and our two black cats.
Sewing has always been a part of my life—I honestly don’t remember a time when I didn’t know how to sew! My mum used to make clothes for me when I was little, and I even had a toy sewing machine so I could "help." One of my earliest fashion memories is my mum making me a Scary Spice leopard print dress when I was 8. (Yes, my love for leopard print started young!)
Instead of A-levels, I decided to follow my passion and went to college to study Fashion. I fell in love with the problem-solving side of pattern cutting, so it felt natural to continue that journey with a degree in Fashion Technology. After graduating, I worked as a Garment Technologist for both suppliers and retailers, diving into the technical side of garment production.
Back in my student days, I would sometimes whip up a quick outfit for a night out using fabric remnants from Leicester Market. But as life got busier, I found myself sewing less and less. I struggled to find fashionable sewing patterns, and when I did, the fit was often disappointing.
During the pandemic, I got back into sewing by volunteering to make hospital scrubs and masks. That’s when I stumbled upon the world of PDF sewing patterns, and I was hooked. I realised that with more people embracing slow fashion and becoming eco-conscious, there was always room for more patterns that were fashion-forward and accessible to all skill levels.
So, during my maternity leave with my second daughter, I decided to turn my passion into reality, and Mallow Patterns was born right here at my kitchen table.
If you buy one of my patterns - firstly thank you so much for supporting a small business! I’m here to help you along the way, so if you get stuck or need advice on tweaking your pattern for the perfect fit, feel free to email me or drop me a message on Instagram.
A huge passion of mine is to make sewing - and sewing patterns - accessible to all. I am working hard to make my size range inclusive and find ways to show you how patterns can be adapted to fit you. This is a huge amount of work so please bear with me!
In the meantime if you have specific needs which you feel are not catered for in the world of sewing and fancy a chat, please reach out.
Happy sewing!
Tash
